GESTRA SPECTORconnect: next generation automated boiler house control system offers unrivalled safety and reliability
Remote boiler house monitoring and control to help boiler OEMs and steam system users maintain peak productivity and efficiency around the clock
GESTRA has launched SPECTORconnect, an advanced control system that enables steam system operators to remotely monitor a boiler house from anywhere in the world. By instantly identifying performance deviations, predictive actions can be taken quickly for safer, more efficient steam production, reduced energy bills and lower emissions.
SPECTORconnect is a complete system, including limiters, probes and controllers, that provides detailed insights into the operation of a boiler and up to three associated tanks, such as feedwater and condensate return tanks.
Commissioning and expansion of a SPECTORconnect system is simplified by the Human Machine Interface (HMI) that scans and identifies the type of each connected device, such as a level control probe, and integrates it automatically into the system.
GESTRA SPECTORconnect is the safest system of its type on the market. The system is rated at Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3, one of the highest safety ratings possible with an extremely low probability of failure of both the individual hardware devices and the overall system integrity. To achieve this safety rating, GESTRA worked with the German testing house and technical services consultancy TÜV from the outset of the product’s development.
SPECTORconnect is aimed at industrial steam boiler Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and steam system end users. OEMs can win new business by using SPECTORconnect as the basis to offer additional services for the boiler such as monitoring and maintenance. Service companies that supply steam to industry customers will also find SPECTORconnect beneficial by allowing them to monitor and control boilers at multiple sites, helping to ensure reliable steam supplies.
In many industries, steam is required around the clock, so the boilers run continuously, 24/7. Any downtime can be extremely costly. We’ve applied the latest automation and diagnostics technologies commonly associated with managing a car engine. This creates a system that provides all the process parameters needed from a boiler house to identify deviations that the operator can react to immediately and avoid unnecessary steam supply interruptions.
GESTRA SPECTORconnect is expected to be commercially available in October 2019.
